Campfire

A breeze flicks off a few sparks

from soft-spoken orange tipped coals.

The warmth won’t last forever.

But for now, it’s not so bad.

Young girl, red hair, cardinal blushed eyes,

rests on his shoulder.

Staring up at the white stippled sky.

Humming, twinkle

twinkle little star.

The white specs dance in sync,

a moment so microcosmic.

By daylight, that feeling will fade.

And they will go their separate ways.
